The guide and boat skipper had been doing this for years. They talked with other boat's crew before we left and to us to area where the howler monkeys were located and got the monkeys to howl for us. Then we traveled to several trees We went on this boat trip as part of our shore excursion. Our guide was very knowledgeable and good at spotting animals.
We were able to see a sloth really close up. Also saw howler monkeys, a giant iguana, some kind of crested green lizard, The Tortuguero canal system is quite extensive and full of animals, birds and other wildlife. The highlights were seeing the sloths high up in the trees. I was able to take some remarkable pictures with the zoom on my camera.
There were beautiful birds, caiman, When we got off in port, we met a man named Manuel who drove a red Taxi, which we saw as we exited the ship. He gave us a 4 hour Walking from the bus to where we got on the boat was amazing.
The flowers were gorgeous, and the trees were so big and beautiful. We saw one sloth, but without a zoom lens, you would not know what it was. Same with the monkeys-we When we arrived, there when dozens of small boats and "captains", awaiting business. We were lucky enough to get a very experienced captain who had a trained eye for finding wild live. Saw trees full of monkeys, close ups of sloths, numerous birds and reptiles We did this excursion on a cruise. Very interesting and we saw sloths, monkeys, iguanas, a very large lizzard, and to top it off a crocodile along with many birds.
This was well worth our time. On March 25, , we had a very enjoyable boat ride in the Tortuguero Canal in Costa Rica and comfortable walk in the Cahuita National Park rainforest. Steven, our guide from Greenway Nature Tours, was very quick to point out howler monkeys, sloths, raccoons, oropendola We had a great captain on our tour and saw lots of wildlife.
